Lily Sartison

Rodeo Runway showcases western wear and its influence in fashion and culture. My capstone project exhibits this fashion trend while exploring its history. The project discusses western wear within five areas: History, Art & Entertainment, Culture, Fashion and Alberta Influences. My research spanned from work and utility to sports and the arts. It also discusses how western wear and colonization were intertwined, and how the Indigenous community—and other groups— have in turn adopted western wear into their own cultures. Rodeo Runway is a publication project that discusses my interest with western wear while also paying homage to Calgary which is where I was born and raised.
