The Adventure Collection

Kaylee Mikalauskas

Between 2018-2020, Statistics Canada found that approximately 21% of pedestrian fatalities at night involved victims dressed in dark clothing. The world is quickly evolving to encourage driving alternatives, and even with the increasing number of pedestrians, the average person isn’t prioritizing visible clothing. High-visibility clothing continues to be stagnant and plain, remaining an underdeveloped market that highly prioritizes function, while ignoring the fashion. I wanted to create something fun, comfortable, and bright, functional for both night and day. Using vinyl, I am able to construct ‘windows’ in which LED lights can shine. All lights are attached to fully removable panels so that all the tech can be easily and safely removed for ease of wash.

If we’re going to encourage people to wear the proper clothes to stay safe, we need to start making clothes that people want to wear. Visibility isn’t just an issue that affects specific industries, it affects everyone.
