You’ve Grown up so Fast

Hannah Sum (hanickou)

You’ve Grown up so Fast is a ready-to-wear collection from hanickou (HAH-nitch-co), by Hannah Sum. The collection serves as an exploration of childlike innocence and the idealization of grown-up role models from a younger point of view. As children, we often look up to our role models, shaping behaviour, relationships, and decision-making skills. Children are known to emulate or copy the behaviour and appearance of parents, siblings, and many other important individuals in their lives. Much of a child’s learning during their childhood is achieved through imitation and observation. You’ve Grown up so Fast specifically explores the relationship of a child mimicking their role model. Symbolism of trying on a parent’s clothes, nostalgic and humorous text, and adapted “mature” silhouettes lend themselves to strengthening the conceptual themes behind the collection.

The hanickou mission is to design garments with meaning and purpose, not necessarily reinventing the wheel, but to inspire creativity and style in everyday life. Fashion is self-expression, and does not have to be taken too seriously, just make you feel good.
