Gut Punch

Jahna Bird

Gut Punch is a gory, punk-inspired photo/poetry book indulging in the depths of my constant quandary with my eating disorder. The subject matter of Gut Punch revolves around my anorexia nervosa and it’s implications on my self image, familial, platonic, and romantic relationships, as well as how this impacts my perspective on the fashion industry. It is the enunciation of the idea that eating disorders do not only affect how one perceives and behaves themselves, but also the people around them. It also highlights how self image can impact social interaction and presence.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

A young woman with blonde hair and bangs, wearing an off-white off-shoulder top, dark shorts, and tall black boots with black socks, stands centered in a richly decorated Baroque-style church. She looks upwards and slightly left, towards a magnificent marble altar adorned with several white candles in gold holders, and a large, dark-framed religious painting featuring multiple robed figures. The church interior includes ornate columns, detailed marble balustrades, and a colorful geometric mosaic floor of various marble tiles. Smaller religious paintings in gold frames hang on the light-colored walls in the background.
