The Reflection

The Reflection is a collection that follows the story of someone who believes they are voluntarily giving their body away, and dealing with the insecurity and sense of voyeurism that comes with self-objectification. At what point is self-objectification having your body taken from you instead of wilfully given? 

The collection is inspired by the uncomfortable yet glamorous aesthetics of gothic horror. Through lingerie-inspired clothing, a touch of evening wear, and jewelry design methods such as beading and chainmail, The Reflection is a method of storytelling through fashion; taking pieces of what we consider sexy and mysterious and bringing them into something more sinister and personal.

Lilly Turmel is a designer that merges storytelling and glamour. Inspired by films and literature, her work deals with feminist and sexual themes through lingerie and evening-wear inspired garments. Unique material explorations such as chainmail and beading allow let the wearer become another version of themselves.
