The Interconnectedness of the Self

‘The Interconnectedness of the Self’ examines how sociocultural and environmental factors shape identity, emphasizing the dynamic relationship between self-expression and place.

Human-centred and site-specific, this project situates the body within its environment, considering how physical surroundings and social contexts influence personal creative expression. Drawing inspiration from biophilia and biomimicry, this zine works to create conceptual explorations of fashion as a space for cultural dialogue, highlighting the tension between rootedness and transformation.

Though deeply personal, this work extends beyond my experience to examine cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives on identity formation. By engaging with narratives outside of my own, I seek to understand how individuals navigate the intersections of culture, environment, and self-expression. Ultimately, this zine serves as a creative exploration of how fashion and sustainability intersect to shape our understanding of identity and belonging in a constantly evolving world.
