Chameleonic Aura: The Art of Fashioning Identities is a fashion magazine that provides cultural commentary on fashion by analyzing how we, as social actors, use it to shape and perform our identities. Chameleonic Aura combines visual and written narratives to engage its readers in the nuance interchange between style, culture and self-expression, challenging readers to explore fashion as a dynamic tool of our social world. Rooted in Critical Race Theory, Gender Performativity, and Affect Theory, Chameleonic Aura serves to challenge traditional notions of dress by examining how intersecting identity like race, gender, sexuality and culture influence our formation of dress and subsequently how they are reflected and reimagined through fashion. My capstone works to critique and celebrate styles’ transformative power, encouraging readers to rethink fashion’s role in constructing and displaying identity.
