Through executing this capstone project, I have explored new age and ancient spiritual ways of thought to create a five-look conceptual streetwear collection, titled Fourth Density. This collection depicts five stages of soul evolution and spiritual metamorphosis, succeeding humanity’s current spiritual standing. I have explored the evolutionary and metaphysical makeup of the soul throughout each stage of spiritual evolution, through playing with fabric manipulation and density of textiles, to bring the ethereal into the physical realm. Utilizing traditional natural dye techniques, I have dyed each textile by hand with natural pigments, including indigo, cochineal, and weld, to honour our earth, and makers of the past. To unify the evolutionary nature of this collection, I have executed classic oversized streetwear silhouettes, applique techniques, gathers, and intricate style lines. The ontological and spectral nature of this collection draws back to various significant spectrums in spiritual metaphysics, including light, colour, sound vibration and density. Each look transitionally evolves and becomes less dense in material and more complex in design, to create my first runway collection.
