Ingat: The Things We Carry

Ingat: The Things We Carry highlights the diverse experiences and stories of Filipinos within the diaspora. Specifically looking at the personal connection between objects, environment and personal identity, this multi-media project strives to preserve and enrich the Filipino narrative, guiding others to take pride in their unique identities. Ingat in Tagalog is used as an expression wishing one to take care of or be safe, and it is often used by my mother when ending a phone call. The things we carry is both literal and metaphorical as we carry on generations of memories and stories. I aim for this project to act as an exemplar that being Filipino can take shape in so many ways.
