Megan Friedrich

This exhibition is dedicated to creating a ballet costume influenced by Victorian romantic ballets and Victorian fashion. I have used fashion plates, photography, historical patterns, and Victorian paper fashion dolls to influence and shape my design. All media used as both a reference and inspiration for my capstone project have a connection to the Victorian era. Art, dance, fashion, and culture during this time period plays a significant role in the theme of my capstone. In addition to the costume, I have also created a collection of paintings and drawings. These paintings display the dark reality that dancers faced during this time period, despite the lighthearted, ethereal, context of popular Victorian ballets.
