INFUSED is a fusion of Eastern and Western fashion, seamlessly blending structured Western silhouettes with intricate Eastern design elements. Inspired by the cultural significance of chai in Pakistan, this collection reflects the deep-rooted tradition of tea—symbolizing hospitality, warmth, and community. From the milky tea of Punjab to Kashmiri pink tea, chai is more than just a beverage; it is a ritual that connects South Asians to their heritage.
The aesthetic draws from the sensory and visual elements of tea—fragrant spices like cardamom and cinnamon, the delicate balance of stacked teacups, and the organic curves of clay teacup handles. Each design integrates these influences into modern garments, merging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary style.
This project underscores the importance of diversity in fashion and the ongoing journey of South Asian decolonization. By incorporating Eastern embroidery, trims, and modest silhouettes, INFUSED reclaims cultural identity while offering a distinctive blend of tradition and modernity. As a designer, my goal is to celebrate Eastern heritage through fashion, allowing women to embrace their roots with confidence in a world that often prioritizes Western aesthetics.
