My capstone project explores the theme of “Back to Childhood” to revive lost creativity in fashion design while I was growing up in a homogenous country. Aiming to reconnect with the innocence and curiosity of youth, I plan to gather information on the importance of creativity in the fashion industry through articles and readings. My creative approach involves expressing this theme in my collections. For designs, I choose non-typical colours like red and dark violet for my garments. Because my thesis is about finding lost creativity, I wanted to break the stereotype. So I kept the typical shape (such as bubble hem) that people can think of for childhood but I didn’t for colours. Therefore these can add an unexpected twist to my designs, making them more intriguing and memorable. While pastel shades are often associated with childhood, incorporating bold and sophisticated colours like the ones I’ve chosen can create a fresh and distinctive interpretation of my theme, ‘Back to Childhood to revive lost creativity and open-mindedness.
