AUTOPSY explores existential burden through a surrealist lens, focusing on birth, death, and female anatomy. The collection incorporates surrealist elements to highlight humanities fascination with mortality, life, and the body. By blending the bizarre with the ordinary, I aim to provoke feelings of curiosity, discomfort, and reflection. The work reveals internal aspects of human anatomy externally, challenging societal norms by emphasizing the fragility of existence.
My creative process involves experimenting with a range of materials and techniques. The collection utilizes textile techniques such as felting, embroidery, beading, fabric manipulation, and sculpting. By pushing the boundaries of both fashion and art, I aim to create pieces that feel otherworldly and thought-provoking, embracing surrealism spontaneous, dream-like qualities.
The collection centres around the intersection of surrealism, anatomy, and textile design, blending these disciplines to create innovative, meaningful pieces. Surrealism provides the theoretical framework, while anatomical study offers a scientific and philosophical lens on life and death. Through this intersection, I explore the human body in new ways and express existential themes through fashion.
As a designer, I combine art, philosophy, and fashion to reflect deeper truths about existence, surrendering to the creative process and allowing unexpected outcomes to shape the final designs.
