Gardens of Eternity

Aasiyyah Abdus-Samad

The key inspirational theme for this collection is drawn from Qur’anic imagery of Jannah (Paradise), specifically the descriptions of gardens and the four rivers of water, milk, wine, and honey (Qur’an 47:15; 2:25). Each gown interprets an aspect of these rivers, while the fifth gown embodies the “Eternal Garden” that unites them. This research direction allows me to explore Islamic aesthetics as a foundation for contemporary couture, translating symbolic imagery such as gardens, rivers, blossoms, and light into textiles, silhouettes, and embellishments. The collection is unified by a core embroidered tulle fabric, layered with liquid satin and organza, and crystal beading to create dimension and continuity across all five looks.
