BOUND

Ganga Ahuja

My collection “bound” is about the feeling of being trapped under parental expectations and cultural traditions. Many students know this pressure, wanting to follow their own dreams while being held back by what others expect. I wanted to turn that hidden struggle into fashion and reflect it in my garments.

The first looks in the collection will feel heavy, full of layers, pleats, and tight closures that show the weight of control and restriction. As the outfits progress, they slowly start to loosen, open, and breathe. By the last piece, the clothing becomes powerful, classy, simple, bold, and confident, showing the journey of breaking free and standing strong on your own. In simple words I wanna layer up and add pleats and fullness in my first outfit, leading to a simpler and classy outfit towards by 5th look. I want my designs to be wearable in real life. My vision is to create garments that balance professionalism and everyday comfort. Some pieces will be polished, formal and tailored, perfect for the office or boardroom, while others, like tailored pants or bottoms, will work casually for day-to-day wear.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

A young woman with fair skin and long, wavy reddish-brown hair, wearing a gray sleeveless top and a dark skirt, sits cross-legged on a sunny grassy field. She smiles softly towards the camera. A light-colored handbag rests in front of her. The background features green trees and hints of distant structures, all illuminated by golden hour sunlight casting long shadows on the grass.

My design philosophy centers on creating garments that are not only visually impactful but also emotionally meaningful. I approach design with the intention that each piece should answer the question: why should this garment exist? In this collection, the answer lies in storytelling, using fashion as a medium to represent strength, progression, and individuality.

A key foundation of this collection is inclusivity. Each design was created with women of all ethnicities, backgrounds, and skin tones in mind. The silhouettes, color palette, and styling choices were carefully considered to ensure that every piece enhances and celebrates diverse forms of beauty, allowing a wide range of women to see themselves reflected in the work.
