Before the Neon Fades

Beryl Cheng for KA HEI

Before the Neon Fades is a women’s ready-to-wear collection that explores love, memory, and cultural identity through the lens of Hong Kong’s heritage. Inspired by Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love, the collection captures the delicate beauty of moments that exist only at night—moments that dissolve with the first light of dawn. The tension between love and separation, tradition and change, belonging and self-expression reflects how memory, love, and heritage can be expressed through garments. Before the Neon Fades captures the quiet beauty of what does not last forever, yet leaves a lasting trace—like the glow of neon lights before they disappear into the morning.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Beryl Cheng for KA HEI

I am a fourth-year fashion design student exploring identity through form, emotion, and memory. My work unfolds as a dialogue between heritage and contemporary fashion. My brand KA HEI is rooted in Hong Kong heritage, translating personal memory and emotion into garments that evoke nostalgia while remaining grounded in the present. A balance of past and present. Heritage and memory
