As humans, we strive for a sense of belonging and acceptance in society. The fear of ostracism and exclusion can often be overwhelming. Yet, what happens when we alienate ourselves when we lose touch with our own identity? Without a clear sense of self, we are unable to truly flourish or grow. Feelings of imposter syndrome and a lack of self-expression can also limit our sense of belonging in the world. Overcoming these feelings and reclaiming our identity, however, can lead to an ‘abloom’ state, Which is “a period of flourishing growth and new development”. This project aims to represent my personal journey towards self-discovery and acceptance as a trans-racial Chinese adoptee. The project will be displayed through the integration of the 3D design and fashion in the form of a fashion collection.
