FLY FLY

The animated short film “FLYFLY” delves into the gender inequalities faced by women in China’s Qing Dynasty, examining systemic disparities within traditional societal frameworks. It serves as both artistic expression and sociocultural critique, prompting reflection on historical gender biases and their contemporary implications. As a designer, I see the profound link between history and modernity, questioning blind adherence to tradition. For instance, the ancient practice of foot-binding, deeply rooted in male dominance, has been challenged by Chinese women, showcasing strength and resilience. Despite ongoing societal restrictions, I believe in perpetuating this strength through creative endeavours like design and art, aiming for societal transformation.
